Robotech: Battlecry
Overall: Holy Moses from the temple, they finally made a decent video game about my obsession: Robotech! Largely based around the Macross Saga from the cartoon we all love, and even employing some of the same voice talent from the original show, Robotech: Battlecry is a great 3rd person shooter with a bit of strategy thrown in for good times.Gameplay: You'd think the fact that pretty much every single button has a function would make this game impossible to play or at least very frustrating. I was amazed to find how fast I was getting used to changing shape, executing a barrel roll and popping off decoys in no time at all!
Graphics: Me likes the cel shading. I know, some think it looks a little 2D, but trust me folks, the cel-shaded smoke effect trailing behind the ships you've hit is pretty awesome.
Audio: I wish they'd used the original soundtrack but the new one sticks closely to the music from the series. It's great to hear the voice-overs from the original Lisa Hayes, and the 5.1 sound proves once again why XBox is superior.
Suggestions: Bring us a Southern Cross game, now now now!
